Description
Sunship III is a curriculum-based environmental program specifically designed for 7th graders, in which students learn basic scientific concepts like energy flow, cycles, interrelationships and change, all within the beauty of a privately owned forest just west of Covington, LA.
This carefully crafted program allows 7th graders to arrive as the wonderful individuals they are in their classrooms, and leave after 3 days and 2 nights together as a connected, cooperative community.
Highly Structured & Hands-On Activities: Students learn major Earth processes through experiential and fun activities while also learning to appreciate the richness and beauty of our planet through first-hand contact.
Empowerment through Action: Sunship III helps students understand their use of energy and materials and the interrelationships of our ecological systems through exploration and discovery of how and where we live. Everything participants do during the program focuses on two things: perceptions and choices; seeing things in a new way and examining alternative choices for a less consumptive lifestyle.

Since 1995, TREE’s mission has been to educate children and adults about the life science processes that govern our planet, to inspire them to appreciate the natural world, and to motivate them to protect it. Highly trained educators immerse 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 7th grade students in life science adventures both on and off-school campuses exploring nature's bounty while also covering state standards.
