Description

The M.E.S.S. Lab is an immersive experience open to 4th-12th grade classes. During each session, students will: Learn about their city’s local waste stream and discuss who is responsible for ensuring the proper disposal of waste—municipalities, corporations, or citizens? Experience the paint recycling process from start to finish, working in small teams to create their own batches of unique paint colors. Paint will be sold in store on behalf of students, and all student-made paint sales will be funneled back into the program. Discuss what it means to be a good citizen, explore how to reduce paint waste, and brainstorm new paint recycling systems based on what students learned, and what they can imagine. Creatively market their paint colors using persuasive writing techniques
The Green Project
Serving New Orleans since 1994, the Green Project's mission is to promote a culture of creative reuse by diverting usable materials from landfills and cultivating a respect for their value. Our mission is executed through three main pathways: a salvage store, paint recycling program, and environmental education.
